Each week we?ll highlight a different song by a Bushwick band or artist we like. If you would like to have your band?s song considered, you can submit an MP3 here.
The ?40s style radio intro to Kitten Berry Crunch?s ?Dreams? suggest off the mark that something unexpected is going to happen. Forgive the prejudice, feline parodies of breakfast cereals aren?t usually denziens of anything remotely earnest. But the solo project of Shaun Hettinger (though he incuded his cat Nico in a recent video) is a lush exploration of warm tones and ?80s vocal tricks. And despite the suggested hilarity of the band name, ?Dreams? is a very subdued piece of synth pop, and the lyrics are more wistful than comedic. It?s probably okay if heartfelt pop music doesn?t take itself too seriously.
