09/02/11 Cherokee National Holiday Tahlequah
Time: 5:00pm.
The Cherokee National Holiday was first held in 1953 to commemorate the anniversary of the signing of the 1839 Cherokee Constitution. With its array of entertainment, cultural and athletic events, it has grown into one of the largest festivals in Oklahoma, attracting tens of thousands of visitors from across the world. Look for a variety of sporting events, arts and crafts, shopping, activities for the kids and the annual Cherokee National Holiday parade and powwow at this weekend-long event. 09/02/11 Dusk Til Dawn Blues Festival DC Minner?s Down Home Blues Club
Time: 5:00pm.
Thirty local and regional blues bands will step into the spotlight on three stages as part of the three-day, 21st-annual Dusk Til Dawn Blues Festival in Rentiesville. If you and your sneakers have been missing each other this week, you can bond on the Brady District tonight as you walk from gallery to gallery checking out the art and exhibits on display there. It?s part of the monthly First Friday Art Crawl in downtown Tulsa.

09/02/11 Motorcycle Boy?s Never Coming Back 13 E. Brady Street
Time: 8:00pm.
In the film Rumble Fish, based on the novel by Tulsa writer S.E. Hinton, Tom Waits? character, Benny, owns a pool hall and soda fountain, Benny?s Billiards. Rumble Fish was shot in downtown Tulsa, and the location of his hang-out was 13 W. Brady. The focus of this installation, curated by Lee Roy Chapman, will be on the influence of Tulsa artist and filmmaker Larry Clark?s photobook Tulsa, on Coppola and his film and Gaylord Herron?s photos from behind the scenes. An accompanying showing of Rumble Fish will run at Circle Cinema at 11 p.m.

Matt Dillon and Mickey Rourke star in this Francis Ford Coppola classic, a film shot in downtown Tulsa that?s based on the novel by S.E. Hinton. The film centers on Benny?s Billiards, a pool hall owned by Tom Wait?s character, Benny, which the story?s characters use as a hang-out. The film is being shown as a compliment to the installation at 13 E. Brady, the same location that housed Benny?s in the movie, which will show the connection of Coppola?s cinematic vision of the film as it pertains to the work of two Tulsa photographers, Larry Clark and Gaylord Herron.

Labor Day Pasture Roping & Western Weekend. Brewster Ranch is home to the Bushyhead Pasture Roping and Barrel Race, and it?s on again this year at Brewster Ranch in Bristow. Look also for World Series team roping, mounted cowboy shooting, a trade show and a trail ride with the American Quarter Horse Association.
